Burjanadze’s husband gives first interview after being sentenced

5.5 years of prison, said that he will not give the authorities the
pleasure of seeing him in jail, Trend reports.
Bitsadze gave an interview to the Asaval-Jasaval weekly paper. Nino
Burjanadze’s husband is hiding from the Georgian police abroad. He
insists on his innocence and says that the guilty verdict is based on
words of General Uchav that they have not discussed.
Bitsadze says that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili personally
ordered the crackdown on protesters of the People’s Assembly on May
26. Two people died during the crackdown as a result of being run down
by cars.
