According to the committee of the Chechen government on minor business and enterprises, in 2011 the number of entrepreneurs has grown by 8,000. On July 1st, 2010, there were 37,400 of them and 45,000 representatives of small business. The reason for the growth in the number of businessmen in Chechnya is the effective implementation of governmental and republican programmes of support for small and medium-sized businesses. The most popular kinds of business are agriculture and the wholesale and retail trades. More than 65% entrepreneurs are working in these spheres. Meanwhile, the number of legal bodies rose to 10,175.

Meeting of Ministry for regional development in Grozny

The minister for regional development of Russia, Viktor Basargin, held a meeting with members of the Chechen government in Grozny. Implementation of the federal target programme for the social and economic development of Chechnya was discussed. According to the minister, rates of development of the public there in the first half of 2011 can be appraised as high. “Positive dynamics seen in the sphere of attracting extra-budget financing,” the head of the department for the federal target programmes of the ministry for regional development, Yevgeny Potapenko, said. The chairman of the Chechen government, Odes Baisultanov, expressed his concern that the federal target programmes do not include money for reconstruction of economic facilities. Moreover, according to Baisultanov, one of the problems is financing the de-mining 14,326 hectares of the republic’s territory.

Basargin visited the Chiri-Yurtovsk cement plant, which is being reconstructed within the federal target programme. The minister was told that one section of the plan has already been launched. It produces 1,200 tons of cement per year.

Results of harvesting

The ministry of agriculture sums up winter and spring harvesting. According to the ministry, this year the result is the best in the last 15 years. The gross grain harvest is 182,000 tons for early August. Chechenagroholding bought four American harvesters for effective work in 2011. Due to this machinery there were no losses of grain. New harvesters are being adapted for use in the agricultural conditions of the CIS countries.

Chechen investment projects

Chechnya presented its investment abilities at the Dagestani Economic Forum in Kaspiisk. Several major projects in various branches of the economy were presented, involving the building of modern and high-technology plants. The minister of economic and trade development of Chechnya said building and reconstruction works, the launching of residential districts and economy facilities demand effective work on energy supply and launching new plants providing electricity and heating energy. One of the ways out of the problem, according to Abdulla Magomedov, is construction of local systems of heat and electricity supply.

Chechnya without debts

According to the Russian Statistics Service, about 11 regions of Russia have no debts in the sphere of salary by the 1st of August 2011. Chechnya says it is one of them. Other regions are the Astrakhan, Ivanovo, Tambov and Tyumen regions, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Yamal-Nenets and the Chukotka autonomous district.

Lada Priora from Chechnya

The Chechenavto vehicle manufacturer began experimental production of Lada Priora cars. The first few units have been produced. It is planned that in September Chechenavto will produce Lada Priora serially. By the end of the year 400 cars should be produced. From the next year 4,000 cars will produced every year.
