Leaders of China and India meet in Tianjin

During the talks on the sidelines of the SCO summit, the leaders emphasized the need to expand trade and investment ties.
"On economic and trade relations, they acknowledged the role of the two economies in stabilizing global trade. They stressed the need to act in a political and strategic direction to expand bilateral trade and investment ties and reduce the trade deficit",
the Indian Foreign Ministry reported.
Xi Jinping and Modi also noted the positive dynamics and steady progress in bilateral relations that have developed since their meeting in Kazan in the fall of 2024.
"They reaffirmed that the two countries are cooperation partners, not rivals, and that their differences should not turn into disputes. Stable relations and cooperation between India and China and their 2.8 billion people, based on mutual respect, mutual interests and sensitivity, are essential for the growth and development of both countries, as well as for a multipolar world and a multipolar Asia in keeping with the 21st century trends",
the Indian Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, the leaders of China and India expressed satisfaction with the successful disengagement of forces along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
"The Indian Prime Minister noted that India and China seek strategic autonomy and their relations should not be viewed through the prism of a third country. The leaders of the two countries considered it necessary to expand common ground on multilateral platforms on bilateral, regional and global issues and challenges such as terrorism and fair trade",
