Head of European Commission to discuss sanctions against Russia with Trump's advisers

The head of the European Commission and advisers to the US President will discuss measures against Russian oil and gas imminently. This was announced on September 4 by the President of Finland following a meeting of the so-called "coalition of the willing" with Donald Trump.

"Trump's point of view was very clear: we must act together on sanctions policy... There are two targets here: oil and gas. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Trump's senior advisers will discuss this within the next 24 hours",

Alexander Stubb said.

The meeting of the "coalition of the willing" took place in Paris today. It was held in a hybrid format and chaired by the UK Prime Minister and the President of France.

Earlier, a source in the US administration stated that during a conversation with European leaders, US President Donald Trump demanded they cease purchasing Russian oil.
