FETO members detained while attempting to flee Türkiye

Eight FETO (designated as a terrorist organisation in Türkiye) members were detained in Türkiye while attempting to illegally cross the border, Turkish media reported on September 14.

Coast guard officers captured the FETO members in the Datça region of Mugla Province.

Reports indicate that they were heading to Greece for trial under the Polish flag.

Three crew members were also detained aboard the vessel and have been charged with migrant smuggling. The FETO suspects face accusations of participating in terrorist activities.

All detainees were initially taken into custody, though one of the crew members was later released.
