WHO European Regional Committee opens 61st session in Baku

The European Regional Committee of the World Healthcare
Organization(WHO) has opened its 61st session at the Gyulistan Palace
in Baku, 1news.az reports.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is taking part in the session. WHO
Director General Margaret Chan, healthcare ministers of 53 states,
heads of international organization are taking part. Executive
chairman of the session Josep Castles, Director of the regional bureau
of the WTO Zhuzhanna Yakab thanked the Azerbaijani government for
organizing the meeting.

Azerbaijani Healthcare Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev is chairing the
session. He read a greeting letter from Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady
of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund, Goodwill
Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP.

The session will hold discussions on non-infection diseases caused by
alcohol, resistance to antibiotics, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, medical
achievements.
The session will last until September 15. A program will be passed
promoting healthy life until 2020.
