Pashinyan re-elected to post of Chairman of Civil Contract

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will remain the Chairman of the country's ruling Civil Contract Party, according to preliminary vote counts reported by Armenpress.

A secret ballot was held on September 20 during the party's seventh congress in Yerevan, with over 6,000 party members participating. 41 candidates ran for the post of Civil Contract leader. Nikol Pashinyan received the majority of votes.

Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and Civil Contract faction MP Vahagn Aleksanyan were provisionally elected deputy chairmen of the party’s board.

The congress also adopted a declaration outlining further efforts toward European integration.
