Georgia expands protected areas
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Georgia's protected areas will be increased by several thousand hectares. Currently, the republic's protected natural areas exceed 600,000 hectares.
The Agency for Protected Areas of Georgia has proposed expanding the area of Racha and creating a new protected area, Ambrolauri.
The Kidobana, Sakishori, Shareula, Usholti, and Muradi grottoes will be added to the protected area. The grottos will be under the supervision of the Racha National Park Directorate.
In addition, the Ambrolauri Protected Landscape, covering 50,240.4 hectares, will be created within the Ambrolauri municipal administration.
