New NPP to be built in Southern Kazakhstan

The plant will be located in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region, and the Chinese corporation CNNC is reportedly being considered for the project.

The Zhambyl district was selected due to its current electricity supply shortages.

This follows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's earlier announcement regarding possible nuclear plant construction in the Abay region.
