Turkey to monitor Gaza ceasefire closely - Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara will closely monitor the strict implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal and continue to contribute to the process, while maintaining efforts to push for a Palestinian state.

The Turkish leader thanked U.S. President Donald Trump, “who demonstrated the necessary political will to encourage the Israeli government toward the ceasefire,” as well as Qatar and Egypt.

According to him, Turkey would closely monitor the strict implementation of the agreement and continue to contribute to the process.

"As Turkey, we will closely monitor the strict implementation of the agreement and continue to contribute to the process," Erdogan said.

The head of state stressed that Ankara would not stop until a sovereign Palestinian state was established.
