Israel plans Hamas tunnel destruction after hostage release

The Israeli Defense Minister has directed the army to prepare for destroying Hamas tunnels, emphasizing operations will commence after the release of hostages.

"The major challenge for Israel after the phase of returning the hostages will be the destruction of all of Hamas’s terror tunnels in Gaza, directly by the IDF and through the international mechanism to be established under US leadership and supervision",

Israel's Minister said.

Katz identified this operation as fundamental to implementing Gaza's demilitarization and disarming militant factions.

The minister has issued corresponding preparation orders to military commands.

The announcement follows Friday's ceasefire implementation in the Gaza Strip.
