First day of European Taekwondo Championships brings Azerbaijan gold

On the first day of the European Taekwondo Championships in Aigle, Switzerland, young Azerbaijani athletes claimed one gold and two bronze medals.

Ilyas Khatamli dominated the 48 kg weight category, defeating all his opponents to take the gold medal, Trend reported.

Bronze medals were secured by Mehdi Budagli in the 45 kg category and Novruz Aliyev in the 51 kg category.
