IRGC Navy holds naval drill in Persian Gulf
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy is holding a military exercise in Iran’s southern territorial waters in the Persian Gulf with the participation of various units from the elite force.
The naval drill, codenamed Shahid Mohammad Nazeri, kicked off on December 4 and will take place across the Persian Gulf, the Nazeat maritime zone - Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Siri islands, the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the Sea of Oman, Tasnim reported.
Nazeri was the commander of the elite commando units of the IRGC Navy, he died in 2016.
In November, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters Ali Abdollahi said the IRGC Navy has reached full preparedness in the Persian Gulf’s strategic islands, highlighting enhanced defense capabilities and firm control over regional security.
He said the operational units are more prepared than ever to ensure the safety of the nation’s maritime and territorial borders, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf waters.
