Istanbul tops global traffic congestion ranking

Istanbul has been named the city with the longest traffic jams, according to a global study by transportation analytics firm Inrix.

The research indicates that drivers in Istanbul spend an average of 118 hours annually in traffic congestion, representing a 12% increase from 2024.

The top three cities for traffic gridlock also include Chicago, where drivers lose 112 hours per year, and Mexico City, with 108 hours lost annually.

A total of 942 cities across 37 countries were included in the study.
