Pakistan seeks to join BRICS

 

Pakistan Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that the country would like to join BRICS, RIA Novosti reports.

"We would very much like to join BRICS. As you know, we are currently an active member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization... I think we could play an equally important role in BRICS",

Muhammad Aurangzeb stated.

Islamabad previously submitted an official application for BRICS membership in 2023.

 

Pakistani media report that the country could potentially become a member as early as 2026.
