Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that achieving price reductions requires coordinated work with both retail chains and distribution companies.

Kobakhidze attributed the current high prices primarily to excessive markups by distributors and stores.

"We have analyzed the drivers of price increases, and the markup is indeed too high. It does not include import fees or other taxes. The process will be complex, but we aim to resolve it as swiftly as possible",

Irakli Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister added that a similar issue with pricing exists in the pharmaceutical sector, where corrective measures are also needed.

"Any available resources for reducing prices must be utilized",

Kobakhidze said.
