Trump predicts timeline for end of Ukraine conflict

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine is close.

Addressing reporters after meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky and following an earlier call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, he said that Moscow and Kiev were “closer than ever” to a peace deal.

"I really think we are closer than ever with both sides," Trump said.

The U.S. leader said if things go “really well,” a peace settlement could be reached in “a few weeks.

Trump also said that he believes that that trilateral meeting between Russia, Ukraine and the U.S. could happen “at the right time”.
