China condemns Israel's recognition of Somaliland

Beijing opposed Tel Aviv's recognition of Somaliland's independence. Chinese Foreign Minister Lin Jian stated that the international community considers Somaliland part of Somalia, and external interference in its internal affairs is unacceptable.

China emphasized that the status of Somaliland is an internal Somali matter, to be resolved peacefully by its people in accordance with national law. Beijing called on Somaliland to halt all separatist activities.

"We urge the Somaliland authorities to face reality, immediately cease all separatist actions, and end any collusion with external forces",

a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated.

Israel is the first country to extend recognition to Somaliland. The December 26 decision has drawn immediate criticism from Türkiye and several other nations.
