Temperature record set in Simferopol

The air in Simferopol warmed up to a record high on January 7, but a significant cold snap is already approaching the capital of Crimea.

Air temperatures set a record in Simferopol in recent days, the Crimean Hydrometeorological Center informs.

"On January 6th, the absolute maximum was exceeded by 0.2 degrees: the previous record was 15.7 degrees in 1931, and now it was 15.9 degrees,”

- the forecasters informed.

The following day, it got even warmer: the daytime temperature was 17.8 degrees. The previous record of 15.6 degrees was set in 1994.

Forecasters warn that Crimea will be hit by a sharp cold snap. Temperatures will drop as early as tomorrow, and a cold snap will move into the region on the first day of the weekend, bringing true winter. Temperatures will remain below zero throughout the following week, both during the day and at night. Heavy precipitation is also expected.
