Kabulov: MIR cards won't be launched in Afghanistan anytime soon

Russian Presidential Special Representative Zamir Kabulov commented on the potential timeframe for the launch of Russian MIR payment cards in Afghanistan in an interview with TASS.

"I don't think it will be anytime soon, since Afghanistan's banking system isn't processing transactions. They are also under sanctions, so it's unlikely",

Zamir Kabulov said.

This statement follows reports last fall from Afghan Ambassador Gul Hasan that Moscow and Kabul were in discussions regarding the possible introduction of MIR cards.
