Ambassador to Denmark Russia has no claims to Greenland

The Russian Federation has no claims for Greenland, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin stated.

"Russia has no aggressive plans with regard to its Arctic neighbors. It is not threatening them with military action, not blackmailing them, and is not preparing to lay a claim to their territory",

Vladimir Barbin said.

His remarks follow previous comments by US President Donald Trump, who suggested that if the USA did not act, Russia or China might "take over" Greenland.

Barbin noted that the Danish Foreign Minister had already clarified on January 14 that Greenland faces no threat from Russia or China.

"Nevertheless, NATO countries, including Denmark, are widely exploiting the fetish of a Russian or Chinese threat to militarize the Arctic",

Vladimir Barbin said.
