Palestine's National Committee for Administration of Gaza holds first meeting
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe National Committee for the Administration of Gaza held its inaugural meeting in Cairo last week, officially launching its work.
The opening meeting formally announced the committee’s mandate to assume civil responsibilities and internal security duties in the Gaza Strip, as well as to oversee efforts related to stability, recovery, and reconstruction.
The committee will carry out these tasks until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program. It is committed to peace, economic development and seeking Palestinian self-determination.
The 12-member National Committee for the Administration of Gaza is headed by former Palestinian Authority deputy planning minister Ali Shaath.
In a brief statement during the opening session, Committee Chair Ali Shaath said the NCAG is a Palestinian body established by Palestinians for Palestinians, with the support of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority.
The government of Palestinian technocrats will run daily affairs in Gaza and will be supervised by US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace and by two executive boards with similar names - the Gaza Executive Board and the Founding Executive Board.
