Its a fraud - Szijjártó on Russian gas imports ban

The complete ban on Russian gas imports is a fraud, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said, commenting on today's EU Council decision.

He stated that the move can be described as fraudulent because Brussels did not consult all EU countries.

"Hungary considers the ban on gas imports from Russia to the EU a fraud because the decision was made without unanimity",

Péter Szijjártó said.

The EU Council earlier today announced a complete ban on Russian gas imports from the beginning of 2027. The restrictions will take effect on January 1 for LNG and on September 30 for pipeline gas.
