Iran begins customs facility construction on Azerbaijani border

East Azerbaijan Province Customs Department head Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh confirmed the beginning of begun work on establishing a customs post on the Kalala-Aghband Bridge, which is located on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border. 

Abbaszadeh emphasized regional authorities' prioritization of Jolfa region customs infrastructure, currently processing 300 daily trucks with planned post-opening capacity expansion to 1,000 vehicles.

Bridge construction across the Araz River began in September 2022. The bridge is scheduled to open in March of this year.
