Iran confirms Ali Khamenei's death
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the US-Israeli attacks on February 28, according to an announcement made by the Islamic Republic's state television.
"Great nation of Iran, Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei has been killed",
the broadcaster reported.
According to the Fars news agency, the country has declared a 40-day mourning period. The coming week will also be observed as a non-working week.
Earlier, Fars reported, citing a source, that the Supreme Leader's daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and one of his daughters-in-law were also killed in Saturday's strikes on Iran.
Furthermore, Iranian authorities confirmed the deaths of Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Iranian Defense Council, and Mohammad Pakpour, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
On February 28, the USA and Israel launched a joint series of strikes against targets located in Iran. In response, the Islamic Republic launched missiles at Israel and US military facilities in the Middle East.
