A fresh series of explosions rocked the Iranian capital this morning, according to the Jamaran news agency. Details of the incident have not yet been disclosed.

The reported strikes follow US President Donald Trump's warning that Iran would face an unprecedented blow if it attempted to retaliate for previous actions.

Iranian authorities have already promised to respond to the death and declared a 40-day national mourning period following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, RIA Novosti reports.

In a show of solidarity, neighboring Iraq has also declared three days of national mourning, the Iraqi news agency INA confirmed.

"The Iraqi government has declared a three-day mourning period across the country",

 the announcement reads.

As previously reported, Trump issued the warning in response to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' announced plans to intensify counterattacks against Israel and US bases in the region following Khamenei's assassination. He emphasized that any such action would be met with an even more powerful US military response.
