During a press conference on April 1, the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that foreign ministers from 35 countries would convene this week to discuss the Strait of Hormuz' reopening.

"The UK has united 35 countries around a joint statement of intent to work towards ensuring security in the Persian Gulf. Later this week, the Foreign Secretary (Yvette Cooper -  the editor's note) will host a meeting where these countries will come together for the first time",

Starmer said.

According to Starmer, the meeting will address diplomatic and political measures to restore freedom of navigation, ensure the safety of stranded vessels and seafarers, and resume commercial shipping.

Following the foreign ministers' gathering, a separate meeting of military strategists is scheduled to discuss possible steps to secure the strait after the cessation of hostilities.
