Russian and Azerbaijani Defense Ministers hold talks in Moscow

Russia and Azerbaijan have finalized a bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 during a working meeting between Defense Ministers Andrey Belousov and Zakir Hasanov in Moscow, according to a statement from the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry published on April 3.

The talks took place on the sidelines of a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers and focused on the current state and future prospects of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening strategic partnership and allied cooperation. They also discussed the regional security situation.

During the meeting, the two sides signed the 2026 Military Cooperation Plan. Additionally, Zakir Hasanov invited Andrey Belousov to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan, an invitation the Russian Defense Minister gratefully accepted.
