Lavrov comments on UN resolution on Strait of Hormuz
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe draft resolution on the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz proposed by Bahrain cannot be approved by the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following talks with top Egyptian diplomat Badr Abdel Aaty.
According to him, it does not contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
"Such a decision by the UN Security Council would hardly increase the chances of a peaceful settlement, let alone the reputation of this body," Sergey Lavrov said.
The Bahrain draft resolution has been molded in a bid to rally several countries that have appeared skeptical, including Russia and China.
