Armenia’s opposition demands early elections

Armenia's first president and leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress, Levon Ter-Petrossian urged the authorities to conduct a number of reforms in the country, News-Armenia reports.

Levon Ter-Petrossian called for early presidential and parliamentary elections and amendments to the Electoral Code.

In addition, the ANC demands to disclose the facts of death during mass protest rallies which took place on March 1, 2008 and prosecute those responsible over the next three months.

Among other demands are the liberation of political prisoner Tigran Arakelyan and termination of criminal proceedings against seven young activists of the Congress, removal of the illegal ban on street trading in Yerevan.
