Turkey and Iran start operation against Kurdish militants

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reported about a joint military operation against Kurdish militants, Associated Press reports.

The operation is to be held in northern Iraq.

Clashes between the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and the Turkish police have intensified in the last weeks.

Ankara is using artillery and aviation against Kurdish militants in northern Iraq. The Turkish prime minister noted earlier that they may intervene in the region to stop militant attacks.
