Dollar rate slides toward 70 rubles

The dollar exchange rate fell sharply on 13 May, dropping below 73 rubles to 72.975 - its lowest level in three years.

At 12:43 Moscow time, trading data showed the U.S. currency down 1.11%. The last time dollar was below this level on February 19, 2023.

The euro also weakened, losing 1.34% to trade at 85.45 rubles. That marked the first time the single currency had breached the 86-ruble level since June 5, 2023, and likewise represented a three-year low.
