Further investment in the North Caucasus is unwise, expert says

The President of the National Strategy Institute, Mikhail Remizov, says further investment in the North Caucasus is unreasonable. 

The expert told a VK correspondent in an interview that such investment will only support the criminals who blackmail and rob businessmen and local administrations.

The situation in the region is indeed hard, Remizov says, and corruption and social problems are outrageous. According to him, further investment would only worsen these problems.

The expert also said that financial aid cannot solve the problem of terrorism. The country's authorities should control local elites and establish successful dialogue with civil society, Remizov believes.
