Azerbaijan's population exceeds 10 million

In January-May of 2026, Azerbaijan's population increased by 9,287 people, or 0.1%, reaching 10,271,638 as of June 1, 2026, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Population distribution data show that 54.3% of the population lives in urban areas, while 45.7% reside in rural settlements. In terms of gender composition, 49.8% of the population are men and 50.2% are women.
