Astana and Beijing discuss Shymkent Oil Refinery modernization

Representatives of China's CNPC and Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas met in Beijing, Kazakh media reported on July 31.

The talks focused on joint oil and gas projects, including the expansion of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline.

The modernization of the Shymkent Oil Refinery was also discussed.

It was previously reported that the refinery's design capacity is set to increase from 6 million to 12 million tonnes per year, with a technological audit already carried out for the project.
