Two Russian tourists evacuated in Kazakhstan mountains

Two Russian citizens injured at an altitude of over 3,500 metres in Kazakhstan's Almaty region were evacuated by helicopter, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

"On August 5, a tourist group of eight people sought help at the Toguzak high-mountain hydropost of the Kazselezashchita state institution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, located at an altitude of 3,510 meters, in the Talgar district. Two of the hikers required medical assistance. Rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan successfully evacuated two Russian citizens who were injured in the highlands of the Almaty region",

the Ministry's press service reported.

A 25‑year‑old sustained a head injury from a falling rock, while a 32‑year‑old hurt his arm in a fall.

The tourists were evacuated by a Kazaviaspas helicopter and handed over to the Disaster Medicine Centre team.
