Bessent to announce new measures against Iran on August 24

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will address the press on August 24 to announce new steps by Washington against Tehran.

"If we apply maximum economic pressure, it is likely that there will be no large-scale resumption of military action",

Bessent said, adding that the oil market is misreading the impact of economic pressure on Iran.

Earlier, President Donald Trump warned that any country supporting Iran would face economic consequences.
