Putin congratulates Tokayev on Adilet party's victory in Kurultai elections
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the Adilet party's victory in the elections for the newly established unicameral parliament, the Kurultai.
"The high voter turnout and the results of the popular vote clearly confirm the broad support for your efforts to strengthen domestic political stability, ensure the country’s dynamic socioeconomic development, and protect its interests on the international stage," Putin said.
The head of state said in a telegram published on the Kremlin’s website that he has no doubt that the members of the Kurultai will cooperate fruitfully with Russian parliamentarians to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between the two states.
"I wish you and the newly elected representatives success in your work, and I wish the brotherly people of Kazakhstan well-being and prosperity," Putin said.
A new constitution providing for the transition from a bicameral to a unicameral parliament came into force in the country on July 1.
