Türkiye arrests nearly 40 people in illegal betting crackdown

Turkish security forces have arrested 39 people in a large‑scale operation across 19 provinces targeting illegal betting and gambling.

According to local media, the suspects carried out illegal transfers totalling 2.41 billion Turkish lira (about $68 million) over two years.

Most arrests took place in Çankırı, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya. Authorities plan to detain eight more individuals in connection with the case.
