3,0-magnitude earthquake shakes Georgian town of Dmanisi

An earthquake struck Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region on Monday afternoon, with tremors recorded near the town of Dmanisi, more than 60 kilometres from Tbilisi.

The quake hit at 6:04 p.m. local time (5:04 p.m. Moscow time), with a magnitude of 3.0 and a hypocenter depth of 10 kilometres.

No damage or casualties have been reported.

Georgia is considered a country with moderate seismic activity. The strongest recorded earthquake in its history occurred in western Georgia's Racha and Imereti regions in 1991, with a magnitude of 7.0.
