OSCE criticises Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections again
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaOSCE/ODIHR observers have again criticised Kazakhstan's Kurultai elections held on August 23, citing a lack of political pluralism despite good preparation.
The preliminary report noted that while voting procedures were largely followed, discrepancies were found between observed and reported turnout, along with other shortcomings.
The ruling Adilet party received about 70% of the vote. Observers from the CIS and SCO said the elections had been held in line with the law.
