Religious figures of Russia and Azerbaijan propose creating special research center

Following a bilateral meeting of Azerbaijani and Russian religious figures and theologists today on the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence, the sides issued a joint statement that stipulates the necessity of establishing a special research group within the CIS structure in order to better understand the principles of peaceful interaction between representatives of different religions. The new organization is to be founded under the auspices of the Higher Education Centers Council for religious education.
The sides also condemned terrorism and violence as a means of resolution of political, economic, social, sectarian, ethnic and other problems, urging believers and all people of the CIS to condemn terrorism in all its manifestations and strictly follow peace-loving commandments of all religions.
