Borashvili becomes Georgia's new State Security Service Chief

Tamaz Borashvili has been appointed head of Georgia's State Security Service (SSG), replacing Geka Geladze. Parliament approved his appointment with 83 votes in favour.

Borashvili had served as deputy head of the SSG since September 2025, having previously spent years as the agency's director of state security.

Geladze led the agency from late April 2026 until September 14.
