Iran increases hydropower generation by 63 percent

Iran's hydroelectric plants have increased output by 63% over the past six months, generating nearly 15 billion kWh — about 6% of the country's total electricity supply, according to TAVANIR.

Authorities plan to add 65 megawatts of hydropower capacity during the upcoming cold season, with a further 270 megawatts expected next year.

Iran's hydroelectric potential is estimated at 12,000 megawatts.
