Georgia buys record amount of Russian jewelry

Georgia imported $436,800 worth of precious‑metal jewellery from Russia in August 2026, the highest monthly figure since 2009, according to Geostat.

Previously, monthly shipments had not exceeded $216,600.

In the first eight months of the year, Georgian companies purchased $1.5 million worth of Russian jewellery, which is 4.7 times more than in the same period last year.

It should be noted that Russia has become Georgia's primary supplier of jewelry, overtaking France and Turkey.
