Russia urges Azerbaijan to invest in North Caucasus

The presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexander Khloponin, on Tuesday urged Azerbaijan to invest in the economy of the region.

The remarks came from the presentation of the North Caucasus investment projects in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

The presidential envoy, who also serves as vice prime minister in Russian government, added that he appreciates the role Azerbaijan plays in the region's economy naming the country 'a strategic partner.'

"We see Azerbaijan as a investor in the North Caucasus," Khloponin said.
