Türkiye to launch production of SİPER-2 air defense systems in 2027

Türkiye will begin production of SİPER-2 missile systems in 2027. These systems are a component of the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) project.

Türkiye’s defense industry will begin serial production of the long-range SİPER-2 air defense system in 2027. The missile systems are part of the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) system,Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said.

According to Kacır, Türkiye’s defense sector comprises over 4,000 enterprises. More than 100,000 people are employed in the military industry, Kacir said. 

It should be noted that the SİPER-2 system has a range of up to 180 km. The missile system is capable of engaging targets at altitudes of up to 30 km.

The minister also stated that exports of military products exceeded $10 bln last year. Export figures increased by 15.6%.
