No accord within US administration on next steps in Iran
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaDisagreements over the next steps regarding Iran have intensified within the U.S. administration following the midterm congressional elections, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
According to the sources, some officials are urging U.S. President Donald Trump to launch new strikes against Iran and then try to secure peace, while others believe he should stop and scale back the military operation.
The current situation points to growing divisions within the administration over military action against Iran following the Republican Party’s defeat in the midterm congressional elections, the newspaper noted.
Trump said on Wednesday that he would end the war with Iran whenever he wants, but, in his words, this must be "done right." He also acknowledged that the Republicans’ defeat in the country’s midterm elections was "largely" due to the war with Iran and rising fuel prices.
