Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Golden Orange film festival is being held in Antalya. The theme of the 48th cinema festival is “And a woman touched the world.” Attention is concentrated on women in general and the contribution of women to cinema. The mayor of Antalya, Mustafa Akaydyn, stated on Saturday: “We want to emphasize the indispensability of women in our everyday life. We discuss violence against women and search for solutions. Moreover, we are glad to welcome the first Women's Summit in Antalya.”
Furthermore, Akaydyn expressed his hope for cooperation with Russian filmmakers, RIA Novosti reports. Describing Antalya as an ideal place for shooting, he hopes for future joint filmmaking with Russia. “This year Russians take first place in visiting Turkey (previously the leader was Germany). If we received a proposal on mutual moviemaking from Russian directors, we would be glad to cooperate with them. Antalya has specific natural advantages and sights, historic places and a convenient location, which enables the shooting of any movies. We have a convenient airport and many five-star hotels,” Akaydyn said.
The festival will take place until 14 October. All jury members are women. The programme of the festival is wide-ranging: 50 Turkish feature films, 222 short films and 110 documentaries.
The well-known Azerbaijani screenwriter and director, Rustam Ibragimbekov, was awarded a lifetime honorary prize. In Antalya he presented several movies, including “Goodbye, South City”, which he shot with Russian colleagues.
