Dagestani national team wins 3rd Inter-Continental Cup for Free Wrestling

Khasavyurt has concluded the 3rd Inter-Continental Cup for Free Wrestling with the top prize of $50,000, RIA Dagestan reports.

The games were held at the Khasavyurt sports complex named after Gamid Gamidov. Wrestlers arrived from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine. Russia was represented by its own team, a team of Dagestan and the CSKA club. The A group consisted of Dagestan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The B group consisted of Russia, CSKA, Georgia and Belarus.

Dagestan won the Group A, Azerbaijan took second position. Russia won Group B, Georgia took second place.

Mahmud Magomedov, Agaguseyn Mustafayev, Emin Azizov and Alexander Gostev beat Vladimir Hichagashvili, Malkhaz Zarkua, Shalva Muzhashvili, Georgi Margashvili in the “minor” final. Other matches (Nowruz Temrezov vs. Dato Marsagishvili Haji Alidzhanovagainst Elizbar Odikadze Aslan Dzhebisov vs. DavidMadzmanashvili) were won by Georgia.

Dagestani wrestler Nariman Israpilov beat Russian wrestler Shamil Salikov, Rasul Murtazaliyev lost to Sat Opan. Dagestani wrestlers Jalal Kurbanaliyev, Kamal Malikov and Shirvani Muradov beat Darsam Dzhaparov, Shamil Osmanov and Yuri Belanovsky. Anzor Urishev and Ramazan Magomedov did not wrestle with Magomed Ibragimov Bakhtiyar Akhmedov.

Dagestan won 6:1. The first prize was worth $50,000, second - $30,000, third – $20,000. The games were held in the honour of Shamil Umakhanov, who died in Nalchik in 1998.
